Disney's Eternals made a strong theatrical debut over the weekend. The Marvel film, directed by Chloé Zhao, features an ensemble cast that includes Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee and Salma Hayek. Like previous Marvel films released earlier this year, Eternals had a three-day opening weekend. Despite the film's mixed critical reviews leading up to its release, Eternals finished the weekend in the top spot, earning $71.3 million in its debut, becoming the third largest three-day opening weekend performance since the reopening of domestic theaters.

Dropping down one spot to second place was Denis Villeneuve's Dune. While the film held the top spot at last weekend, it comes as no surprise that Dune lost it to the box office juggernaut that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Losing IMAX screens to Eternals, Dune earned an additional $7.8 million for a total of $84.1 million its second weekend in theaters.

Taking the third place spot at the weekend box office was No Time To Die. With the addition of heavy competition such as Dune and Eternals, the Bond film has been holding up well. No Time To Die earned $6 million for a five-week total of $143 million.

Holding its fourth place spot at the box office was Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Just like No Time To Die, the Tom Hardy-led superhero film has been doing well holding its own sitting among the big hitters. Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned $4.5 million for a six-week total of $197 million.

Rounding out this weekend's top five was Ron's Gone Wrong. The animated film earned $3.6 million for a three-week total of $17.5 million. ~Sean Olegario
