Edee Mathis (Robin Wright) is grieving after a traumatic experience and finds it difficult now to be present and connect to the people around her. In an effort to escape her problems, she seeks a new life off the grid, retreating to the beautiful but treacherous wilderness of the Rockies in Wyoming. During the winter, a local hunter (Demián Bichir) finds Edee lying on the floor of her cabin, on the verge of death. Edee must learn to adapt to her new life, as the hunter teaches her how to survive in these lands.
