I think it would have to be when my grandmother in law started pottery classes. She got to work almost right away making gifts for all the grands and great grands. Cute little tree ornaments with different animalish creatures.. When I got to mine well it was an unusual dish in a bright green paint with three flower stamps, ruff outside. It sounds prettier than it looked. I'll admit I still liked it and it helped to know it was for "stuff" . Grama was big on things to put her "stuff" in. She never really improved her pottery skills but stayed productive!

One year at work I got a strange gift from Secret Santa - it was a bottle of Luminol Spray ( the blue stuff they use at crime scenes to see blood spatter ) - I actually used it to solve a murder in my neighbourhood the next month!!

The worst gift I ever got was a rotten leather purse all musty smelling and some kind of blue mold in the purse from the 1940's from an old great aunt of mine. It was really gross!
I think the strangest gift was a package of men's boxer brief underwear but it was the wrong tag. I should have kept them, they looked very comfortable.
