The Croods: A New Age tops weekend box office for third time

The Croods: A New Age movie posterThe top movie at the weekend for the past two weeks again took the top spot. The Croods: A New Age continues to do strong box office during the pandemic -- again, the only film to earn in the millions over the weekend.

The animated comedy The Croods: A New Age, featuring the voices of Nicolas CageCatherine Keener and Emma Stone took in an additional $3 million over the weekend for a three-week total of $24.3 million.

Half Brothers, a comedy/drama about two brothers who go on a road trip, remained in second place, taking in an extra $490,000 for a total of $1.38 million.

The classic movie Elf starring Will Ferrell, which was re-released for the holiday season the previous weekend, took third place with $400,000. It has taken in a total of $1.5 million during the pandemic.

The comedy/horror Freaky starring Vince Vaughn dropped a spot to fourth, earning an additional $315,000 for a total of $8.2 million at the domestic box office.

Rounding out the top five was another classic holiday movie -- Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, which was re-released last Friday. It took in $268,170 over the weekend. ~Alexandra Heilbron
