terrible - worst customer experience I have experienced ever.

We went to see "A Real Pain" today. In the middle of the movie, the screen went black and then the movie started up again in an unrelated scene. There was thus a large gap in the movie. A number of customers went to complain that we missed key sections of the movie and the manager (owner?) told us that we were wrong. My son, who had seen the complete movie at a Cineplex, was able to identify critical missing sections. Here is the evidence that sections were skipped: 1. the movie didn't make sense since a whole section was missing; 2. the movie finished early; 3. my son and another customer who had also seen the movie elsewhere stated that key scenes from the movie were missing. Despite this, the owner and another employee insisted that we *had* seen the movie in its entirety. The owner was actually yelling at us that we were incorrect. He was extremely rude. Indeed, I would describe the whole movie going experience as a real pain.

Terrible place

I wanted to support local so badly, but this is not the place. The staff are HORRIBLE, rude and condescending, the theatre itself is in disrepair. Absolute shame because they have a pretty decent indie lineup (excluding the right wing conspiracy propaganda stuff the owner loves to feature), but please save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

All around great !

I always have a good feeling in my heart after leaving the Kingsway. Great old school vibe, fantastic popcorn, quality films and knowing I supported a local independent business. The Kingsway is one of the last of its kind. I Seriously love it and will now go no where else. I could go back to a corporate, crowded, hollow mega theaters after this neighborhood gem

Bad Experience

I had a bad experience there with some friends a few years ago. The manager started screaming at us as a friend had a coffee in her hand that she was just finishing. He grabbed the coffee out of her hands and started yelling about no bringing in food/drinks. We had already paid for our tickets. He suddenly decided that we should just leave and refunded our tickets. I have not been back since. No great loss as the last couple of times that I've been there the theatre was cold and smelled like mold. I felt sorry for the person taking our tickets as they seemed embarrassed and anxious.

Love the cinema, hate the anti-vax propaganda

The cinema currently has a large display of anti-vax articles and alt-right media prominently featured out front. I'm deeply saddened, as this was formerly my favourite independent cinema in the city and a local South-Etobicoke treasure. I look forward to visiting again as soon as they stop peddling pseudoscience and platforming misinformation that results in preventable death and violence in our communities.

Terrible experience , extremely rude manager

This theatre ignores all COVID 19 vaccination screening requirements. The manager was ready to sell us movie tickets without asking for any proof of vaccination. When I asked if he required proof of vaccination, he said that if I had it I could show it to him. I stated that I just wanted to make sure that all the people in the theatre would have been screened. He said that’s not the way it works and that If I have proof of vaccination I can show it to him. He refused to confirm whether any patrons were being screened for vaccinations. I advised that we did not want to go into the theatre unless we were certain all were vaccinated.there were other patrons in the line asking the same question who were also concerned about the lack of screening. He then stated that we were causing trouble and that we better leave or he would call police. He grabbed my arm and pushed me out of the theatre. Outside I asked many people leaving from the previous show, whether or not they had to show proof of vaccination- they all said that they had not. This manager is incredibly rude and aggressive. I guess all the previous reviews I read about him are true!
